Os pilotos, quando em atividade aérea, são submetidos a situações diferentes das que ocorrem em seu habitat natural. Os seus órgãos sensores, principalmente o vestibular, podem se equivocar e sofrer desorientações espaciais. Diante disso, esse trabalho teve como objetivo verificar a existência de estudos nacionais e internacionais que investigaram as condições do equilíbrio de pilotos, verificando se existem diferenças significativas entre eles e a possibilidade de utilizar essas informações como critério de seleção dos pilotos para o cumprimento das missões. Foram encontrados sete estudos que investigaram o sistema vestibular dos pilotos. Os resultados apresentaram diferenças significativas entre o sistema vestibular de pilotos e indivíduos não pilotos, porém essa diferença não foi significativa entre os pilotos investigados. Os estudos encontrados ocorreram em sua maioria com pilotos de caça, não ocorrendo com pilotos de outras aeronaves. Devido aos perfis de voo serem bastante diferentes (caça, helicóptero, transporte, etc), não foi possível confirmar a hipótese de que existem diferenças relevantes entre os sistemas vestibulares dos pilotos e que isso poderia favorecer a Força Aérea durante o planejamento de uma operação conjunta, gerenciando os riscos e aumentando o êxito das missões. Abstract: Pilots, when in aerial activity, are subjected to situations different from those that occur in their natural habitat. Its sensory organs, especially the vestibular, can make mistakes and suffer spatial disorientation. Therefore, this work aimed to verify the existence of national and international studies that investigated the conditions of the balance of pilots, verifying whether there are significant differences between them and the possibility of using this information as a criterion for selecting pilots to fulfill the missions. Seven studies were found that investigated the pilots' vestibular system. The results showed significant differences between the vestibular system of pilots and non-pilot individuals, but this difference was not significant among the investigated pilots. The studies found occurred mostly with fighter pilots, not with pilots of other aircraft. Due to the very different flight profiles (fighter, helicopter, transport, etc), it was not possible to confirm the hypothesis that there are relevant differences between the pilots' vestibular systems and that this could favor the Air Force during the planning of a joint operation, managing risks and increasing mission success. However, it was found that the Chinese managed to establish reference values for the medical selection and physiological evaluation of the Chinese Air Force fighter pilots. Ver menos
