A aviação mundial preocupou-se com o Startle Effect, efeito surpresa que os pilotos sofrem em eventos inesperados durante o voo, a partir de grandes acidentes. Esse efeito motivou o objetivo deste trabalho: comparar a utilização do conceito de Startle Effect na atividade aérea e simulador dos pilotos do 1°/15° GAV e 1°/9° GAV, em relação ao Índice de Segurança de Voo (ISV) das Unidades Aéreas, nos últimos cinco anos, e a possível influência na Segurança de Voo. Para atingi-lo, pesquisou-se o conceito de Startle Effect e o nível de conhecimento e aplicação dos pilotos sobre o assunto, respondendo ao primeiro objetivo específico. Quanto ao segundo objetivo específico, verificou-se o momento em que o conceito de Startle Effect era utilizado em voo e simulador, a partir da formação inicial, relacionando-o ao mais adequado, conforme teoria de aprendizagem significativa. Ambos alcançados com pesquisa bibliográfica e levantamento de dados nas Unidades Aéreas. Verificou-se, também, a previsibilidade na realização dos treinamentos de simulador, através da teoria do Treinamento Baseado em Evidências, comparando-a à pesquisa documental sobre como o simulador era realizado nos Esquadrões, respondendo ao terceiro objetivo específico. Por fim, foram analisados os Índices de Segurança de Voo (ISV) das Unidades, quarto objetivo específico, confrontando-os aos resultados da mensuração da utilização do Startle Effect, obtido dos três objetivos específicos. O resultado da pesquisa mostrou que o 1°/9° GAV possuía maior percentual de utilização do Startle Effect e maior ISV, chegando-se à conclusão da relação entre as variáveis e influência positiva na Segurança de Voo Ver menos

Abstract: The world aviation was concerned about the Startle Effect, a surprise effect that pilots suffer in unexpected events during the flight, from major accidents. This effect motivated the objective of this work: compare the use of the Startle Effect concept in the air activity and simulator of the pilots of the 1st/15th GAV and 1st/9th GAV, in relation to the Flight Safety Index (ISV) of the Air Units, in the last five years, and the possible influence on Flight Safety. To achieve it, the concept of Startle Effect and level of knowledge and application of the pilots on the subject were researched, responding the first specific objective. For the second specific objetive, was verified the moment when the concept of Startle Effect was used in flight and simulator, from initial training, relating it to the most appropriate, according to the theory of meaningful learning. Both were achieved with bibliographic research and data collection in Air Units. It was verified the predictability in the performance of simulator training through the theory of Evidence-Based Training, comparing to documental research on how the simulator was performed in Squadrons, responding the third specific objective. Finally, the ISV of the Units, fourth specific objective, were analyzed, comparing them to the results of measuring the use of the Startle Effect. The survey results showed that the 1st/9th GAV had a higher percentage of Startle Effect usage and a higher ISV, reaching the conclusion of the relationship between the variables and a positive influence on Flight Safety Ver menos
